Director with London Background
Coloured inks on paper, landscape format. A white man with dark brown hair and moustache and beard is in the centre of the picture. He has a purplish red jumper and he is looking downwards, so his face, although painted here with coloured inks, is still very much in shadow. Behind him is a photographic Zoom backdrop which seems to be the view over East London from the top of the O2 Dome! The artist has hinted at this by using a watery wash of blues and pinks, and including the triangular pyramid top of Canary Wharf, the line of the curve of the river, the yellow cranes and outlines of skyscrapers, all set against a stormy sky.
